In a Swiss SME, however, the format does not decide impact. What matters is whether a persona actually shapes day-to-day decisions — or gathers dust in a drawer. Impact happens where it influences concrete choices: the hero message, service pages, prioritisation. This guide shows when the effort is worth it and what AI really contributes in 2026. Key Answers on Marketing & Branding

Where does an SME start with marketing and branding?

Before any channel comes positioning: who are you there for, what specifically sets you apart, what promise do you deliver? Brand identity, content and channels follow after. Investing in channels without positioning pays for visible sameness. Build the foundation in our Corporate Identity guide.

What separates a brand from a logo?

The logo is the marker — the brand is what customers remember when the logo is out of sight. Voice, stance, promise, imagery, service experience. A strong corporate identity makes the logo redundant because the brand already carries.

How important are personas for SME marketing?

Very — but not as fantasy profiles with hobby and favourite coffee. Useful personas describe goals, hurdles, decision context and language of the target group. A concrete persona saves thousands of francs per quarter in wasted reach across ads and content.

Is SEO still worth it for an SME in 2026?

Yes — especially locally. Swiss SMEs with clear service and industry specialisation steadily win inquiries through local search, reviews and thematic depth. SEO is not a short-term lever but a 2–3 year investment. Built cleanly today, it keeps paying off — even against AI answers. More under SEO.

What makes a good landing page?

A landing page has one job: leading one audience to one action. It needs a clear message, a single promise, visible proof and one CTA. Multiple topics, buttons or audiences belong on multiple landing pages, not one overloaded one.

What does professional SME branding cost?

A foundational brand system (positioning, logo, colour, typography, style rules) starts at CHF 4,500. Includes strategy workshop, concept and asset delivery. Deeper brand work with imagery, voice guide, templates and brand-management document starts at CHF 10,000+. Fixed price per project, no hourly rate.

What does Simon Sinek's "Why" have to do with SME marketing?

The Why answers why your SME exists — beyond the sale. Not spiritual, but practical: it provides the brace for content, retention and decisions. Without a clear Why your communication becomes interchangeable — and you compete on price instead of meaning.

When does an SME owner need personal branding?

As soon as your business runs on trust, advisory or expertise. In service-led SMEs the customer buys the person before they buy the company. Pragmatic personal branding is no vanity exercise — it's a lever for acquisition, talent and price stability.
